The V-Block is an ingenious mounting system that allows custom bedding to coexist with interchangeable actions in one custom rifle stock.

Description

The V-Block is an ingenious mounting system that allows custom bedding to coexist with interchangeable actions in one custom rifle stock. The Whidden V-Block – developed by John Whidden, (winner of multiple National Long Range High Power Rifle Championships) – is bedded into your stock and allows you to mount your Remington 700 or Model 7 action. It further allows you to remove that action easily to mount any other action with the same mounting post configuration. The installation is much simpler than conventional bedding methods as well. Stock inletting is greatly simplified due to the square base requiring no difficult radius matching, and the danger of excess epoxy under the barrel or in the action is virtually eliminated

Savage Models Now Available

Whidden Gunworks manufactures the V-Block system for many models of the Savage bolt action rifle. We have taken as many considerations as we could into building the Savage V-Block but there are still a few factors to consider when ordering from us. Whidden Gunworks has tried to make the decision making process as simple as possible. When deciding which V-Block you will need things to consider are:

• Is the rifle a long action having a hole spacing of 5.062”?
• Is the rifle a short action having a hole spacing of 4.275 or 4.400”?
(2nd Generation stocks have 4.275” hole spacing and 3rd Generation stocks have 4.400” hole spacing)
• Is the rifle a “Target model”? The rifle will be a single shot with a solid bottom, has no magazine and has 4.400” hole spacing.
• Is the rifle a “Palma model”? The rifle will have a solid bottom with 3.450” hole spacing.

Note: Whidden Gunworks does not make the V-Block for the Series J or 1st Generation Savage. These rifles were manufactured from 1959-1988 and have 4.522” hole spacing.

Note: The Whidden Gunworks Savage V-Block only works with “staggered” feed magazines, no center feed. An easy way to determine this is by looking from above a loaded magazine. If two rounds can clearly be seen this would be a staggered feed magazine. If only one round can be clearly seen then this will be a center feed magazine.
